From Rebellion to Redemption with Superbook
In the heart of Deli Serdang, Indonesia, a young boy named Elda was known not for his achievements, but for his defiance. At just 10 years old, Elda—second of four siblings—lived a simple life with his family, yet his behavior brought deep concern to those who loved him most. He often stayed out late with friends who didn’t attend school, disobeyed his parents, fought with classmates and siblings, and even stole from his mother. Church and school held no interest for him, leaving his parents exhausted and worried.
But hope came in an unexpected form.
One Sunday, the Sunday school teacher at Elda’s church invited him to join her class. Though reluctant, Elda agreed. His first visit was rocky—he used his offering money to buy snacks. The second week, he got into a fight with another child. Still, his teacher remained patient and loving. That day, they watched CBN Animation’s Superbook episode, “Job.”
Something changed.
As Elda watched Job endure unimaginable suffering yet remain faithful to God, he saw a reflection of his own life—not in Job’s righteousness, but in his need for grace. The story stirred something deep within him. He realized how far he had strayed and how much God still loved him.
That moment marked the beginning of a transformation.
Elda began attending Sunday School regularly. He became more obedient at home, stopped spending time with children who were bad influences on him, and even started saving his pocket money. Most remarkably, he invited two of his friends to church, eager to share the hope he had found.
With a newfound sense of purpose, Elda now dreams of becoming a police officer—someone who stands for truth with courage and integrity, just like Job. He says with conviction:
“I don’t want to be a bad kid anymore. I want to be the kind of child God is pleased with.”
Elda’s story is a powerful reminder of how God can reach even the most troubled hearts through his Word. In Indonesia—a country rich in culture and diversity—Superbook is bridging generations and transforming lives. Through animated Bible stories, children like Elda are encountering Jesus in ways that speak to their hearts and change their futures.
