A Surgery That Changed Kai’s Life

For two-year-old Kai, playtime was supposed to be full of laughter and fun, but lately it often ends in tears.  “I was really scared because the hernia on her lower abdomen grew to the size of a lemon,” declared Kai’s mom, Rosario. “When she strained, it got even bigger.” 

Soon, doctors confirmed Rosario’s fears.  They told her that Kai didn’t have just one hernia but two!  The one on the right was more serious and was stuck in the abdominal wall.    

A few months ago, they looked for help at a public hospital but never got a call for an appointment. Kai’s parents couldn’t afford to pay for surgery on their own. 

“I have to feed three girls with very little money,” said Rosario.  “And they have  school expenses. I cried and I prayed a lot, but I never lost faith.  I knew God could open a door.” 

Then thanks to YOU, when Operation Blessing learned of Kai’s dangerous hernias and paid for her to receive the surgery she needed. After the operation, Rosario said Kai is like a new child. She’s free from pain and can run, jump, and play like other kids her age. 

“Since the surgery, I haven’t seen her limping or complaining of pain,” said Rosario . "Now she can play for hours!” 

“I love seeing her run. She is full of joy now,” added her big sister Ximena.  

As we finished our visit with the family, we took a moment to pray with them and bless them. 

“My mother’s hear is at peace now that you helped her.  The operation completely changed Kai’s life, and mine too!

“Thank you,” said Kai with a happy smile!
