Fifteen missing hikers from a church group have been rescued and reunited with their families.

The hikers, from a Seventh Day Adventist church, didn't return Sunday from the San Gabriel Mountains near Los Angeles.

They were rescued by helicopter on Monday after sending a text message asking for help.

"We were wet, we were tired, but we just decided that the best thing we could do is just stay there and rest," rescued hiker Nancy Picado, 22, said. "We built a fire to keep ourselves warm. Nothing happened to us, thank God. God was always with us and we're good."

The group said they were soaked and exhausted after rappelling down waterfalls when they ran out of daylight.

"It was safer for us just to wait until morning," Picado said.

All the hikers said they are glad to be home with their families.
