Restoring Sight, Restoring Hope
Sonu provided for his family as a daily wage laborer. For nearly a year, he struggled to work when cataracts formed in both eyes.
Sonu explained, “Even during the daytime, I struggled to see clearly, and people stopped offering me work. It began with blurred vision, which gradually worsened. I could no longer read properly or ride my motorcycle. My eyes constantly watered and felt irritated, and slowly my vision faded away.”
For 6 months, Sonu couldn’t see. His wife searched for work but found nothing. Their family barely survived on limited support from relatives. Some days, they didn’t have enough money to eat.
Sonu’s wife, Anju, said, “The hardest moments were when our children fell sick. The hospital was far, my husband couldn’t travel because of his poor eyesight, and we couldn’t afford treatment. Our children needed school supplies, but I couldn’t provide them. We felt completely helpless.”
They prayed to Jesus to remove Sonu’s cataracts. Then they heard about an eye camp near their village sponsored by Operation Blessing.
Sonu said, “The doctors examined my eyes and recommended immediate surgery. I feared the cost, but they told me the surgery and lenses would be free of cost.”
Days after the surgery, Sonu explained, “I was so excited when they removed the bandage! The surgery restored my eyesight, and I can see clearly again. Now I can return to work and provide for my family. It feels like a miracle! God answered our prayers.”
Anju said, “We can buy groceries for our home and study materials for our children. I no longer worry about hospital visits when my children fall sick. Thank you for restoring our lives.”
