Food, Hope, and a New Beginning
Not long ago, Garrett was living on the streets—uncertain where his next meal would come from or what the future might hold.
Today, his life looks very different.
Garrett now lives at Eden Village, a tiny home community designed to help men and women transition out of homelessness and rebuild their lives with stability, support, and dignity.
But even in a supportive community, food insecurity remains a real challenge.
Nate Schlueter, Chief Visionary Officer at Eden Village, sees that need firsthand.
“Towards the end of the month, there’s lots of food insecurity here,” Nate explained. “People are always looking for meals, looking for food.”
Recognizing that need, Operation Blessing International stepped in to help—providing fresh food boxes filled with healthy, farm-fresh produce for residents like Garrett.
For Garrett, those deliveries mean far more than groceries.
“Exactly what it says it is—it’s a blessing,” Garrett said. “People don’t realize what it is to have farm-fresh food. The lettuce we got today was cut this morning.”
But the impact goes deeper than nutrition.
For someone rebuilding life after homelessness, something as simple as healthy food can become a powerful reminder that they are seen, valued, and cared for.
“Food’s more than just food,” Garrett shared. “It can do a lot for your soul too.”
That’s exactly the kind of transformation Operation Blessing hopes to support—not just meeting physical needs, but helping restore hope and healing.
Nate says the partnership has made a meaningful difference in the community.
“To all the partners that make this happen, it means the world to us,” Nate said. “To have people come in, interact with our residents, give them great and healthy food, and really help us in our mission for life change and healing—these care boxes are making that possible.”
Because of the generosity of Operation Blessing partners, Garrett now has access to nourishing food and the support he needs to keep moving forward.
And for Garrett, that kindness hasn’t gone unnoticed.
“I couldn’t be more grateful,” he said. “Thank you doesn’t really sound like enough, but it’s from my heart.”
For Garrett and many others at Eden Village, a box of fresh food is doing more than filling empty stomachs—it’s helping restore hope for the future.
