The Journey for Surgery

Diana can’t help but cry whenever she looks at her two-year-old daughter. Vihyana was born with a cleft lip and palate.  “At first it was impossible for her to nurse or drink from a bottle,” said the tearful mother. “That was one whole day. It was only the next day when we were able to buy milk and a special bottle for her.”

Vihyana’s condition left her thin and malnourished. Her mother was desperate to get her treatment, but even transportation to the hospital felt out of reach.

“And I cannot afford to pay for the operation,” added Diana. “It hurts me to see my daughter living like this.”

Operation Blessing learned about Vihyana’s condition when we traveled to her remote mountain village in the Philippines. The journey was rough.  We crossed rivers and rocky terrain to get there and then return with her to the hospital.  There YOU made it possible for Operation Blessing to pay for the surgery she needed to repair her cleft lip.

“I am so happy,” said a grateful Diana. “If not for you, she would never get the operation she needed. My daughter can now eat well and is healthy. We are extremely happy because of Operation Blessing’s help. Thank you to the donors for your kind hearts!”
