A Refuge in Life’s Storms

Silver White’s grandmother was a godly woman who adopted Silver when she was 2. In addition to church, the two of them were avid fans of The 700 Club… watching it regularly together.

“I really enjoyed the show because it really talked about God. It was positive. There were a lot of testimonies on there that were encouraging, and it helped me to understand the Bible better, and it led to both of us learning more about God and having a deeper, spiritual walk with the Lord,” Silver recalls, her voice bright with gratitude.

The 700 Club also helped Silver when she battled feelings of rejection because her parents gave her up for adoption.  “Pat Robertson was like a spiritual father to me, who was always consistently there in my life on the show, and just I looked up to him,” she reflects thoughtfully.
Then, at 12 years old, she reunited with her father.  “He had changed his life and started walking with the Lord. And he actually gave me a Good News Bible - it meant the world to me because he had never given me anything in my entire life. So I cherished it,” she remembers, the words still carrying wonder.

She read the entire Bible and a year later, Silver was baptized. Her faith carried her through life, into marriage, motherhood, and eventually into her calling as a special education teacher, where she gets to share God’s love with her students.

“I love incorporating my faith and sharing that with my homebound students I play Superbook for them. And their eyes just light up, and they smile. And I can tell they're engaged, and they love learning about God and stories from the Bible,” she adds, enthusiasm bubbling over.

Through two divorces, a health crisis, and loss of loved ones, Silver continued to reach for the same ministry that was with her since childhood.

“I've called the CBN prayer line for many years,  when I would just fill in the depths of despair, I would call the prayer line in the middle of the night because I had no one else to talk to. And I feel like I'm here because of the prayer line,” she confides, her tone hushed at the memory.  So, she became a CBN partner in 2011, knowing her money is spreading hope around the world.  Since then, she has stepped out in faith multiple times, doubling and even tripling her giving—trusting God to provide.

“He says he's always going to take care of us, and he always has. If he feeds the birds of the air, then how much more important are we than they?  And he is always, taking care of me. So, I just trust him faithfully to continue to do so,” she explains, conviction steady in her words.

Today, Silver stands as a testament to God’s faithfulness—shaped by her grandmother’s quiet obedience, anchored by a lifetime of prayer, and strengthened through a ministry that became her refuge.  “I feel like CBN helps me be a part of all the missionary work that it does, helping build wells for people that don't have water in different countries.

Through Operation Blessing and Orphan's Promise to give love and charity to those who need it the most. And since I can't go myself, I want to donate and give to this ministry because I want to bless others and do what God has called us to do, which is to love others as ourselves,” she concludes, her smile wide with purpose.
