Investing in What Lasts Forever
Meet Neil Werberig and Karen Ford, a father-daughter wealth management team that helps people plan for the future, everything from funding a child’s college education to securing a comfortable retirement.
Neil explains, “We saw that we could end up really working together because I'll see things that she doesn't and vice versa.”
The two say this unique partnership, along with their personal commitment to investing in the kingdom of God, has contributed to their own financial success.
Karen shares, “I was always raised on, ‘You can’t outgive God.’”
“The Bible says, ‘Give and it will be given to you, pressed down, shaken together, it'll be pouring out in your lap.’ It's a promise,” exclaims Neil.
One place Karen and her parents have been giving to for years is CBN.
“They have impact throughout the world. Superbook is reaching so many millions of children, in particular and being able to attach myself to something like that, I think it's just so inspirational,” Neil says.
Karen adds, “I just always remember the 700 Club being on TV, and we were taught to tithe, which we did to our local church, and to give offerings. And so when I would get my fifty-cent-a-week allowance, I would give my mom a nickel, and she would wait until it reached a dollar, and she would write a check and send it into CBN.”
Yet later when she was older and working on commission as an insurance agent, Karen didn’t think she could afford to give.
She explains, “I had a bunch of bills, and there was always a shortfall. I kept a ledger and I always wrote how much I made and what I owed and what I kind of borrowed from God.”
After several years of this, Karen says she had a change of heart.
“I was spending time in prayer, and I was reading and learning what CBN Dr. Robertson, what they were teaching,” she recalls. “And I really just felt in my spirit, ‘Wipe that ledger clean, but double your giving for the rest of your life.’ And I started doing that. It wasn’t always easy, but I consistently did that, and I just saw growth in my business, growth in so many different areas in my life.”
And she’s never looked back. Today, Karen gives generously to CBN.
“One of the things I really appreciate from the early days on is the adaptability of the leadership of CBN and the way they embrace technology,” she comments. “They really stretch the dollar. They will have a school start. and they teach the kids the Bible, but then they find that the kids aren't studying too much because they're malnourished. So, they institute a feeding program, and then they get clean water and bring in medical brigades, always with the gospel message.”
As the family has increased their giving through the years, business has prospered more and more. They encourage others looking for financial security to give to CBN, like they do.
“I just see CBN as being one of the greatest ministries of giving into, because we see how it's reaching so many people,” declares Neil.
Karen adds, “Yes, you'd be hard pressed to find another organization that is run as well as CBN.” She concludes, “I really do believe that when you're obedient and you give, the blessings just come.”
