Serving Blessings One Chicken at a Time

Phraewanit is a single mother raising four children in Thailand after her husband abandoned the family. Despite the challenges, her love for her children remains her guiding strength.

"My children are my whole life,” she said. “My love for them cannot be measured."

To provide for her family, Phraewanit sold chicken at a rundown stall in the local market.

She worked tirelessly, but her earnings were barely enough to keep her family fed. Hunger became a daily struggle.

“When our mom is sick, I cook rice for my siblings,” shared her son, Namo. “I try not to eat too much. Sometimes, I don’t eat at all.”

His younger sister, Meesuk, described her own way of coping: “When my stomach hurts, I go to sleep so that the hunger will go away.”

Over time, Phraewanit fell into debt trying to keep her small business afloat. She couldn’t afford to buy enough chicken to meet demand, and the smoke from cooking drove away potential customers. Without a freezer to store her products, she faced even more limitations.

“When I cook the chicken, the smoke drives people away,” she explained. “And since I don’t have a freezer, I can’t buy enough chicken to sell.”

In desperation, Phraewanit and her children turned to prayer, asking Jesus for help.
“I prayed that my mom’s business would do better and that we would have rice to eat every day,” Namo said.

Their prayers were answered when Operation Blessing stepped in. Thanks to generous supporters, Phraewanit’s chicken stall was completely renovated. The upgrades included a new floor to keep customers dry during the rainy season, a fan to divert the smoke, a freezer for storing chicken, and additional supplies to help her expand her menu.

The impact was life-changing. With these improvements, Phraewanit now earns four times what she used to make. She has paid off her debts, and her children no longer go hungry.

“Now, I get to eat until I’m full,” said Namo with a smile. “And mom has money to pay for school fees too!”

“I am not hungry anymore!” Meesuk added joyfully. “I’m so happy that God answered our prayers!”
Phraewanit is overwhelmed with gratitude for the support she received.

“I am so grateful to everyone who helped me and my children,” she said. “Thank you, and may God bless you!”
Thanks to compassionate individuals, Phraewanit’s family now has a brighter future filled with hope, health, and the security of daily meals.
