Drinking the Village Bath Water!

“I was born in this village. Growing up, I went to the river early in the mornings to fetch water before going to school. I often found people already lined up and spent a long time waiting for my turn. There was never enough water. During the dry seasons it was even harder.” - Rose

Rose walked for hours to collect the water her family needed.

“The water was not clean at all. People take baths, do laundry and wash utensils at the same place where we fetch drinking water. My child has had cholera because of this. My neck and back constantly hurt from carrying heavy cans of water on my head. My head hurt too. I was so tired and sore that it was hard to do other household chores. I just wanted to lie down in a heap!” - Rose

When Operation Blessing learned about what Rose and her neighbours were going through, we drilled a borehole close to their home, complete with solar powered batteries and storage tanks. Now the entire community has access to safe, clean water.

“Everyone in the village rejoiced but I think I was the happiest! We celebrated because the water was so clean! When I first tasted it, I was so pleased. I am now able to fetch water right outside my gate. In a minute, I have fetched all the water I need, and I am back to doing other chores. I have enough for cooking, laundry, cleaning and even our livestock. Life is  much easier. I finish my chores quickly and I even have time for a nap! Didn’t you find me napping? We are so grateful for this water you brought us. Thank you and may God bless you and increase you.” - Rose
