Down to His Last $20
CBN.com “We were working on a project really hard. We had to get a lot of units turned that day. I was lifting the paint cans and the sprayers. I lifted the can the wrong way, and I felt something in my neck.”
One wrong move for subcontractor Larry Soos left him injured and out of work.
“I had no other avenues of income,” says Larry. “I did look for other jobs, but nothing was available.”
Larry eventually depleted his savings down to his last $20.
But that day he watched one of his favorite programs, The 700 Club.
“I heard Pat start talking about how you can become a member of The 700 Club,” he says. “That for $20 a month you can join and help others.”
Larry felt he should give his last $20, but it wasn’t Pat’s words that convinced him. Larry says someone else told him to do it.
“When I pulled that last $20 out, I felt this wave of emotion come over me. I knew that God was speaking directly to me, just telling me, ‘You really need to give that out of the heart. Just give it and trust Me. Let Me do what I want to do in your life.’ ”
So Larry deposited the money and sent a check to The 700 Club.
“The very next day I get a phone call from a guy I hadn’t heard from in a couple of years. He had some work that needed to be done. It was kind of temporary, but it was a really good job. It was good pay. It was something that was not a lot of hard work," says Larry.
He adds, “So I was only working four hours a day, but it was probably 5 or 10 times the amount of money I should’ve really been making.”
Larry recovered from his injury and was back on the job. In fact, Larry’s income more than doubled that next year.
“God just brought people into my life that I partnered up with. I got back into the subcontracting business with another gentleman. We got some unbelievable contracts going for us.”
Larry has some advice for anyone thinking about joining The 700 Club.
“Definitely do it because you know where the money is going. You know the blessing you get back is so tremendous from God. I feel that He has just moved me into a different level with Him of fellowship and personal relationship. Before it was more on a surface level. Now it’s gotten so much deeper.”
