Thirsty No More
Ankama lives in Andhra Pradesh, India. Although he’s only 11 years old, he works as a day laborer to feed himself and his grandmother. His other job is to make sure that they have enough drinking water. But trying to do both at the same time became overwhelming.
“Every day I used to bring water from the bore well beside our house,” Ankama says. “If I pump at that bore well for an hour, I will get hardly one pot of water.”
The only other water source for the entire area is a tanker that comes twice a week. But to get water that way, he had to fight through the angry crowds.
“When the tanker comes,” Ankama says, “I will plead with them to get me one pot of water.”
That’s when a local Christian pastor devised a plan to help.
“Here there are about 1,500 families, and there are no sufficient water sources,” says Pastor Ashok Kumar. “There is much need for water. At this time, I heard of CBN. I contacted them over the telephone and their response was immediate.”
CBN’s Living Waters team drilled a well close to Ankama’s home. It’s a blessing that not only helps him to get clean drinking water, but gives him more time to take care of his grandmother.
“Now I am very happy,” says Ankama. “I don’t have to go too far to get the water. Thanks.”
