Are You Robbing Yourself of Blessing?

When Carmen Sanchez sees an Operation Blessing story involving impoverished areas of the world, it reminds her of the past and all God’s brought her through.

“I didn't know the need,” said Carmen. I thought that only happened in Puerto Rico. And when I started watching The 700 Club and I saw the need, there were other nations much worse than what I grew up, that convinced me. And the more I saw, the more I wanted to give the need.”

Soon after Carmen married Herman, they both began watching The 700 Club and were inspired by the teachings on finances.

Carmen said, “And that was part of why we started tithing. And my husband agreed, having grown very poor in New York City and myself, the Lord says give and it shall be given unto you. Test me and I will open the windows of heaven. And I wanted to learn. Is that true?”

So, they started tithing and found God was faithful. Generosity became their lifestyle. As their incomes grew over the years the Sanchez’s gave more and soon became CBN partners.

“I feel part of CBN, watch it every day,” said Carmen. “And I feel that I am supporting a mission that goes everywhere and does, it's not just the food, it's not just the water, it's the health. It's carrying the Word of the Lord to the nations.”

“They go there, I’m there. Even if it's $1, $10, $20, whatever I give.”

When Herman died, Carmen was concerned she wouldn’t have enough to live on but her survivor benefits as a military spouse kicked in.

Carmen said, “When I look back at my life where I came from and to see what the Lord has done, what He did in our lives. The Lord has blessed me so much.”

When someone suggested that she didn’t need to tithe anymore as a widow, Carmen held fast to her beliefs.
“And I say, excuse me, do you think I’m going to rob myself of a blessing? Oh, I tithe.”

“Remember this—a farmer who plants only a few seeds will get a small crop. But the one who plants generously will get a generous crop.” Will you partner with CBN and help plant generously around the world? Your generous giving brings hope to the hopeless and the truth of God’s Word to millions around the world through our humanitarian efforts. Become a CBN partner today and share the love of Christ.
