Extending Help and Hope to Storm Victims

When a Category 4 Super Typhoon swept through Philippines, Maria Teresa lost all the food she’s been growing on her small piece of land. “The trees fell on all our food crops; we were about to harvest them for food and for selling but now it’s all gone. We don’t have food,” Maria Teresa told CBN.

Hundreds of residents like Maria Teresa faced food shortages. Another neighbor, 56-year-old Raymundo, also lost his crops when a river overflowed its banks. “We didn’t expect the water to rise that quickly. All I was thinking about were my grandkids,” he said choking back tears.

Operation Blessing quickly responded to this need by bringing emergency food packs and disaster kits to this hard-to-reach mountain village. After crossing two rivers and rough terrain, we were able to give food packs to nearly two hundred families. Each contained rice, canned goods, and other food items that could last a week. We also delivered sleeping mats and solar lamps.

“You are the very first to come here and you brought this huge help to us,” said Maria Teresa with tears falling from her eyes. “I am so grateful and happy, my heart feels full because I know there are people like you that are willing to help.”

“Thank you for being the first to help us,” added Raymundo. “Thank you to God and Operation blessing.”

“Thank you, Operation Blessing, and all those who are donating. You are helping a lot of people!” said Maria Teresa.
