Working Hard and Still Living Paycheck to Paycheck

Katrina is one of millions of Americans who are living paycheck to paycheck. Sometimes there’s not enough left each month to pay bills and to buy medicine and food, even though she works multiple jobs. 

“One job takes care of the mortgage, the other job takes care of the car payment and everything else in the middle, I hustle, you know, odd jobs, just to make it through, make ends meet,” Katrina explained.

That hasn’t deterred her from continuing her training to care for children with special education needs.  

“They have taught me unconditional love. No matter what they have a smile. You know, it makes your heart feel good. Especially when you’re down and if you’ve had a hard day. And there’s days I want to just quit but I’m like, ‘No, I’ve come this far, why am I going to quit?’” Katrina said.

That’s when she discovered the food ministry at New Life Church in Virginia, a partner of Operation Blessing.

“The food is beautiful, wonderful. It doesn’t matter what it is, it’s always good. Everybody prays with you, they uplift you, everyone has a beautiful smile. It makes your heart feel good,” said Katrina.

And thanks to the food you provided, Katrina says she now has money left to cover bills, medicine, and other expenses.  

“Thank you from the bottom of my heart. You are a godsend. And if it wasn’t for any of you, I don’t know where I would be. So again, thank you all,” said Katrina.
