NOAH – LIVE!

Sight & Sound is partnering with Fathom Entertainment to bring its flagship production of NOAH to movie theatres nationwide for a special one-week theatrical engagement beginning September 18. With a catastrophic storm on its way, Noah is given a monumental task: build a boat big enough to save his family from a flood that will cover the entire earth. But as Noah endeavors to live faithfully in the midst of an increasingly chaotic world, can he trust that God’s promises run deeper than the rising waters around him? “Thirty years ago, when NOAH first premiered on the stage, our ministry was forever changed,” shared Matt Neff, Sight & Sound Chief Executive Officer. “This production broke all the rules of traditional theater and helped us discover our calling to bring the Bible to life on stage. We are grateful for the way it continues to inspire audiences today and thrilled to bring NOAH—Live! to moviegoers across the United States with our friends at Fathom.” Over 5 million people have enjoyed this production since it first began at Sight & Sound theater. And while the story’s strong message of salvation remains unchanged, this is not the same NOAH from 1995. Katie Miller, Director of Brand Development says, “We also really felt God leading us to include as part of the story how to be faithful in the midst of a faithless generation.” Other changes to the production include more advanced technology. “Our storytelling has deepened, and our musicality has evolved,” explained Ryan Miller, Executive Producer. “When we decided to return NOAH to the stage, we focused on building upon the show’s legacy while making decisions that enhanced the audience’s experience and presented the Gospel in a way that is just as applicable to our lives today.” There are over a dozen cameras covering the theater from every angle (on stage and behind the curtain) so moviegoers will have a front row seat to every extraordinary moment of NOAH. In addition to the performance of this new production, NOAH—Live! will include exclusive bonus content — featuring an opportunity to meet Sight & Sound’s famous animal actors.

“We’ve had the honor of partnering with Fathom Entertainment on previous theatrical releases, but there’s something extra special about taking the production that started it all into movie theaters nationwide!” said Katie “We look forward to this opportunity for audiences to come together and be reminded of how God’s faithful promises continue in our lives today.”

PRODUCTION FACTS

Recorded in front of a live audience on Sight & Sound’s Lancaster, PA stage, NOAH—Live! is a new NOAH production and takes audiences on board one of the world’s best-known voyages. Some interesting facts about the productions include:

• Costumes: • Nearly 350 costumes were created for the NOAH cast wardrobe. • Every hair on the gorilla and orangutan costumes were hand-punched, one hair at a time. • The costumes in NOAH have more pockets than any other production. Some are necessary for prop storage, but more commonly they contain treats for the animal actors.

• Scene Shop: • NOAH is the only Sight & Sound production with sets that soar four stories tall. • The tallest set piece is original to the very first NOAH production and the only set piece to survive the fire of 1997. The set piece forms a cross at the front of the ark. “The opening of Act II when the curtain goes up, you are truly sitting inside the ark. The ark is 100 feet across the front of the stage and 100 feet on either side,” shares Katie. We have over 100 live and animatronic animals combined,” shares Katie.

• Animals: • There are over 100 live animals and 100 animatronic animals in the cast of NOAH, including camels, donkeys, skunks, geese, horses, ducks, and more. • More than 40 live animals are present during the Ark loading scene.

KATIE

As the oldest grandchild of Sight & Sound’s founders, Katie first stepped onto the stage when she was four years old, making her the first member of the family’s third generation to be a part of the ministry. Throughout her 35-year tenure, Katie has served in various capacities within the company, including human resources, marketing, and business development. As Director of Brand Development, Katie spearheads Sight & Sound’s growth initiatives and brings alignment to each of the brand’s extensions through strategic partnerships, marketing, communications, and creative development. Katie is passionate about connecting Sight & Sound’s past to its future, introducing audience members from around the world to the Sight & Sound story. Her three children have all been on stage in various productions. Her oldest son is currently working behind the scenes as a deck technician.

One of Katie’s favorite scenes in NOAH is when he is talking to God after being on the ark for almost a year. The animals are restless, and the food is beginning to run out. Although Noah is discouraged, the audience can see Noah’s friendship with God and how he trusted Him completely.
