Viktoria Finds Purpose at the Superbook Club

Viktoria, a 15-year-old girl from Ukraine, faced unimaginable challenges when the war forced her family to leave their hometown in search of safety. After a long period of hardship, they finally settled in a village in the Kyiv region. Upon arrival, they encountered numerous obstacles. They faced a lack of housing and food. They had few personal belongings. And most importantly, they missed the support of family and friends. Viktoria's mother had to work extensively, leaving little time to attend to her daughter. "I felt lonely and abandoned; I was upset with my mother," Viktoria recalls about her childhood.

As time passed, Viktoria's stepfather joined the family, along with two younger sisters and a baby brother. Her parents' busy schedules made her feel even more isolated, and the barrier between her and her mother grew stronger. At school, she struggled to build friendships with her classmates. "I felt like I was useless to everyone. I wanted to hide from everyone and see no one," she shared.

One day, members of a local church visited her family. They brought essential supplies, shared about God, and invited Viktoria and her family to the Superbook Club. When Viktoria first attended the Club, she was deeply moved by the warmth and kindness of the people. "They didn’t even know me, yet they treated me like an old friend," she said. The children watched a Superbook episode and discussed how Chris and Joy faced real-life challenges and found solutions. Viktoria realized that here she could find the help she needed, and that God could change her life.

From that moment on, she, her younger siblings, and her parents started attending the Superbook Club and church regularly. Viktoria no longer isolated herself, and her relationship with her mother was dramatically improved. "I dreamed of having a close relationship with my mother, and my dream came true," Viktoria exclaimed.

At 15, she became a teacher’s assistant at the Superbook Club and now she joyfully helps younger children. Viktoria's involvement in the Superbook Club has brought her a sense of belonging and purpose. "I know that I am needed here at the Superbook Club. I am loved and welcomed. The church is also my family," says Viktoria.

Viktoria's journey from despair and isolation to hope and belonging is a testament to the transformative power of CBN Animation’s Superbook. It shows how the stories of the Bible can bring hope, transformation, and faith to children and families, regardless of their cultural or regional background. Superbook has the potential to reach even more children like Viktoria, offering them a chance to connect with the Word of God and experience his love.
