Superbook Brings Joy and Faith to Guatemala
In August, a quiet community in Génova, Quetzaltenango, Guatemala experienced a day filled with hope and excitement. Thanks to the collaboration between Operation Blessing’s water pillar and local teachers, a special activity featuring CBN Animation’s Superbook was held at the community school—bringing the message of God’s love to children and families in a creative and engaging way.
From the moment the Superbook team arrived, anticipation began to build. For the first time, the team used a “Gizmo” cardboard cutout standee, and it was an instant success. As soon as it was set up, the children’s curiosity turned into joy—many of them already recognized Gizmo, which surprised many team members and made the moment even more thrilling.
The session featured the Superbook episode “Joseph and Pharaoh’s Dream,” focusing on the powerful story of Joseph being sold by his brothers. After the screening, the team held a 15-minute talk highlighting two essential values: forgiveness and trust in God—lessons that resonate deeply in every culture and every heart.
To make learning fun, the children were divided into groups of five for a lively “hot potato” game. As music played, they tossed a ball, and when the music stopped, the group holding the ball answered questions about the episode. Their enthusiasm was contagious—every child participated eagerly, showing how much they had learned.
The activity concluded with a heartfelt prayer and a joyful photo session with Gizmo. Seeing the children’s smiles as they posed with their favorite character reminded the Superbook team why they do this work: to plant seeds of faith and hope in young hearts.
Although educational materials were not distributed this time, the Superbook team is excited to return soon for the official inauguration of Operation Blessing’s Water Project—where an even larger Superbook event will take place. This is just the beginning of what God is doing in Génova.
