School Supplies, Salvation, and Superbook
In the small community of Los Mogotes, Guerrero, Mexico, 9-year-old Ana's life was turned upside down when Hurricane Otis wreaked havoc on her community and home. The powerful winds destroyed the rooms her parents rented to tourists, severely impacting the family's economy. Almost a year later, the start of the new school year brought back memories of that devastating time. On her first day back at school, Ana had only a single notebook, while her brother managed to reuse an old one from the previous year.
Despite these hardships, hope was on the horizon. Ana's mother learned about CBN Mexico's Orphan's Promise project, "Back to School," which aimed to distribute new backpacks and school supplies to children in some of the poorest communities in Mexico. Excited by the prospect, Ana and her brother joined about 20 other children to participate in the event.
The highlight of the day was the Superbook presentation. Ana, eager to soak in every detail, brought her chair closer to the television. The animated Bible stories captivated her, and she was deeply moved by the messages of faith and resilience. During the presentation, Ana was one of the children who raised her hand to invite Jesus into her heart. It was a touching moment filled with hope and new beginnings.
At the end of the event, Ana and her brother eagerly opened the zippers of their new backpacks. To their delight, they found all the school supplies they needed. This simple act of receiving a backpack filled with supplies brought immense joy and relief to Ana and her family.
