A New Hampshire election worker says she was fired for saying "God bless you" to voters.

It happened before last week's election, when Ruth Provencal was still a poll worker in Derry, New Hampshire. Provencal said she was told saying "God bless you" was electioneering.

The New Hampshire Union Leader reports her supervisor Renee Routhier says that wasn't the only reason Provencal was fired.

But the Catholic League is protesting Provencal's firing saying it is a violation of her free speech rights and there is no way that saying "God bless you" could influence anyone's vote.

Provencal said she only said "God bless you" to about a dozen or so voters and didn't see anything wrong with passing a blessing to someone after they voted.
