HOW YOU CAN HELP:
Give to Operation Blessing Disaster Relief
CBN News spoke with Dan Moore, the director of U.S. Disaster Relief for Operation Blessing, who is in Denham Springs, Louisiana. In the interview above, he describes the devastation facing Louisiana residents and how you can help.
Louisiana is facing another wave of floods that have destroyed homes, businesses and lives. More than 40,000 homes have been flooded and approximately 20,000 people are threatened daily with high waters. Unfortunately, 10 people have been killed in the floods.
Operation Blessing responded to the devastation almost immediately, providing hope and the love of Christ.
"Operation Blessing's U.S. Disaster Relief Team is already on the ground in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, working to assess the damage and come up with the best strategy to help flood victims," the relief group posted on Facebook.
Whether it is helping repair damaged homes, or providing vital resources, Operation Blessing is there.
"We will be setting up a command center where we will take work orders from home owners to try and help all the people we can," OB President Bill Horan said in a statement.
Horan is calling on people from across the country to help restore the broken communities of Louisiana.
"Help us help people put their lives back together," Horan says. "We hope that you will pray for those people and help support our efforts."
Operation Blessing International will begin coordinating volunteer efforts to help residents whose homes were flooded in the Denham Springs area starting Wednesday, August 17.
The organization needs volunteers to help residents with the cleanup of their homes and the search for personal items. Volunteers must be at least 18 years old.
OBI's operational base is at the Denham Springs campus of Healing Place Church (569 Florida Ave SW). The organization will be accepting volunteers here daily.
In addition, residents are invited to come in person to the base to fill out a work request for free volunteer help.
