Officer Wilson Resigns but Ferguson Protests Continue

Protests are continuing across the country even after this weekend's announcement that Officer Darren Wilson resigned from the Ferguson, Missouri, police force.

Wilson stepped down after officials said his presence could create trouble for his family and the force. Last week a grand jury declined to indict him in the shooting death of 18-year-old Michael Brown last August.

Mayor James Knowles said Wilson did not receive a severance package and his resignation is a step in the right direction.

Still, protests have spread across the country. President Barack Obama and his Cabinet will meet today with civil rights leaders and law enforcement to talk about the situation.

The White House said the Cabinet meeting will focus on the "mistrust between law enforcement and communities of color."

They will also review the federal programs that provide military-style equipment to law enforcement.
