The Department of Veterans Affairs is opening a transgender clinic in Cleveland.

The Cleveland VA Medical Center says it will provide transgender veterans with primary care, hormonal therapy and mental health care.

The VA medical center in Cleveland treats about 20 transgender patients at present.

The providers in the new clinic say their goal is to create a welcoming environment for transgender veterans.

Overall, the hospital there serves more than 112,000 veterans annually with its inpatient and outpatient services.
