Architect Sues TSA after 20-Hour Detention

A man who was detained for more than 20 hours by the Transportation Security Administration is suing the agency.

Architect Roger Vanderklok said he was arrested in 2013 after asking TSA workers at the Philadelphia airport how to file a complaint.

Vanderklok said he then spent nearly a day in a holding cell without being questioned by police or given a chance to call his wife who was frantic.

"It's difficult to lose control of your existence. That's what it amounts to," Vanderklok said Wednesday. "I was absolutely terrified."

The TSA said it was concerned about what was in his bag, which turned out to be a watch and power bars, wrapped in a small pipe for protection. They said those things can be used to make bombs.

But Vanderklok's attorney said he doesn't think power bars or watches are consistent with bombings.
