Standing with Israel in Time of Need
JERUSALEM, Israel -- As the situation between Israel and the Palestinians degenerates, much of the world is blaming Israel and anti-Semitism is rising.
"So Jewish people here -- God's covenant chosen people here -- need to know that there are believers all over the world, but particularly in America that do support them, that do want to help them, that do want to bless them," said Dudley Goff from the Israel Food Outreach.
Israel Food Outreach partners with Gleanings for the Hungry in Southern California. They now provide a soup mix that goes to more than 60 outreach organizations in Israel with programs for the needy, Goff said.
They also provide quilts for Holocaust survivors.
"The quilts [are] a side project of Gleanings for the Hungry in Southern California, and they've already developed such a love for Israel," Goff said.
So Goff convinced them to send quilts to Israel, too.
He said many Holocaust survivors were saved by righteous Gentiles when they were children. Now at the end of their lives when they are needy, Christians are helping them once again.
"Well that quilt, when we give it to them, they just wrap it around them," Goff told CBN News. "I mean it's unbelievable... the tears that come in their eyes."
Goff said the most important thing that Christians can do is pray for the peace of Jerusalem.
"Pray for the peace of Jerusalem, pray for the individuals in Jerusalem in Israel because it's a tough time and is getting worse and worse," he said. "So they need God to step in, and He'll only do it if there's huge, thousands, hundreds of thousands of prayers ascending up to him on behalf of the Jewish people here."
