Seasons Change
Season changes are always an exciting time for me. I enjoy seeing the transformation of tree colors in the fall, the blooming of flowers in the spring, the summer sunshine, and the winter snow and icicles. The seasonal changes remind me to make the best of every season because things will change again shortly. The beautiful snow and icicles covering the tree branches will melt, the colorful blooming flowers will wither, the scorching summer sun will set, and the multicolored autumn leaves will fall.
Ecclesiastes 3:1 reminds us that for everything there is a season (NLT). I remember this as the seasons reveal new beauty in nature. Just as the seasons of nature change, the seasons of our lives change. Maybe you are experiencing a new season of your life as a new grandparent or even a new college student. Perhaps you are in a new season serving in your church, possibly a new empty-nester, or even a new employee. Regardless of which season you find yourself in, God has plans for your season.
Sometimes the season is painful, and you may find yourself with more questions than answers. At other times, it may feel as though you are in a quiet season where you speak less but listen more. During such times, remembering there is a time to be quiet and a time to speak (Ecclesiastes 3:7) has always been helpful to me. Know that quietness is not a weakness when it is a seasonal quietness led by God.
Whether this season of your life presents you with joy or sorrow, remember, God is with you every step of the way and through every change of season. Although the seasons of our lives change, God remains the same and faithful to His children. God says in Malachi 3:6, “I am the Lord, and I do not change. That is why you descendants of Jacob are not already destroyed.” Meditating on God’s consistency gives peace in any storm of life. Even in joyful times, God’s stability is a firm foundation for our lives.
Let us pray.
God, no matter the season of life I am in, I thank You for Your presence. Help me to always trust You and see the beauty in every season. I thank You for Your consistency, even when things are changing all around me. You are my anchor in good times and in difficult moments. In Jesus’ name, amen.
