“You Gave Us Our Lives Back!”

When a cyclone hit the coast of India, it lashed fishing villages with ferocious winds and pounding rain. Homes were damaged, and so were the boats fishermen rely on to support their families. The hull and deck of Khokan’s boat needed major repair, but he didn’t have the money for it, especially after the cyclone.

Khokan said, “We don’t have any other source of income. What can we do?”

His wife, Mamoni, explained, “We are poor and depend on the boat to take care of our needs. We need thousands of rupees to fix the boat, but we don’t have it.”

Khokan added, “It is not just us. We share this boat with other families. We are all struggling to feed our families, and we feel so helpless.”

After the cyclone, Operation Blessing came to Khokan’s village and gave families emergency food parcels and water filters. We also repaired the boat Khokan and the other families share.

“I am delighted to see our boat repaired,” said Khokan. “Now we can go fishing and earn a living again. We can provide for our families.”

Mamoni said, “We thank you for your help and support. My husband, the children and I, and all of our families are very happy.”

“Because of your help, five families are benefiting from this one boat,” said Khokan. “You gave us our lives back!”
