Burden of Moving Overwhelmed Navy Couple

Navy sailor Kevin Bull served his country as an aircraft carrier aviation machinist mate. During an overseas tour, he met Michelle, who then became “Mrs. Bull.” Michelle was excited to step into the role of a sailor’s wife and start a family.

Michelle says, “I am always proud of him. I always support him.”

Kevin adds, “There's no way that I could do what I do without her at home. She’s home taking care of the kids. How can I go out and serve and defend our country if I know that she’s not taking care of everything at home.”

After 13 years of service, the couple felt God leading Kevin to leave the Navy so he could spend more time with his family. With two kids and one on the way, it was a big decision.

Kevin explains, “I prayed about it for a long time and I was just trusting God that he would provide and make the way to wherever it is that He wants me to go, wherever it is that He wants me to do.”

They decided to stay in Washington State where Kevin had last been assigned. However, they miscalculated the high cost of living there without their military benefits. Now, they could barely afford rent after losing their military housing allowance. Kevin worked two jobs, and Michelle worked part-time. But it wasn’t enough.

Kevin remembers, “Drowning. Drowning in debt basically. It got to the point where you figure out what bill are you not going to pay this week.”

The couple decided to move to Tennessee where the cost of living was much more affordable, and Kevin could look for a new job. But, they had to leave all their belongings behind in storage because they couldn’t afford to ship them. They stayed in a family member’s vacant home and lived out of suitcases. When they fell behind on the storage company payments, they learned foreclosure on their unit was just weeks away.

Kevin remembers asking, “How do we go about fixing it? I don't know.”

Michelle adds, “I don’t know. I'm weeping and crying because there's a lot going on my head. I tell Lord, ‘I give you everything. The rest, this up to you now.’”

Michelle shared their situation with their new church, The Avenue, in Talbott, TN. The staff immediately called Helping the Home Front. Pastor Justin Graham asked the couple over to tell them CBN was paying the back-rent due on the storage unit and paying to move their belongings to Tennessee.

Michelle exclaims, “Thank you, God.”

Kevin adds, “Thank you, pastor. Thank you so much.”

Pastor Justin continues, “Not only that, but we are going to send you to go up there, to be with it during the process to facilitate it. That’s another thing.  They are going to provide that as well.”

Michelle says, "Prayers can move mountains. That’s awesome. God is good.”

Pastor Justin says, “If it's a big deal to you, it's a big deal to God.”

CBN flew Kevin to Washington to meet the moving company. They settled into their home just in time for the birth of their son, Aiden. Shortly after, Kevin landed a job with the Military Sealift Command, securing the family’s financial stability.

Michelle concludes, “I’m really thankful 700 Club. Thank you.”
