“Will I Live Much Longer?”

Cheng loves to draw.

He explains, “It reminds me that the world is beautiful.”

The rest of his life wasn’t so nice.  Cheng was born with a bad heart.

“Cheng’s valves didn’t close tightly so blood returned to his upper chamber.  And his other organs got infected easily,” his mother shares.

His classmates teased him because he was weak.

Mrs. Xing says, “His heart trouble restricted his movement.  His lower heart chamber was really big, and his heart had to work extra hard to deliver blood to his body.”  She recalls, “One time he just ran a few steps and fainted.  He was trembling uncontrollably.  His face was pale, and his lips were purple.  He didn’t wake up for 10 minutes.”

Cheng eventually got so sick that he could barely eat, and he couldn’t draw anymore.

He remembers, “I felt awful, and my hands trembled.  I was losing my dream to even be an artist.”

His mother adds, “He couldn’t focus.  He had no strength, his chest hurt, and he couldn’t catch his breath.”

Then Cheng started coughing up blood.

Mrs. Xing shares, “It was a vicious cycle.  The older he got, the more his life was in danger.  The doctor warned him not to get too excited because it could trigger his heart problems.”

“I was really scared,” admits Cheng.  “I didn’t think I had much time left to live.  I asked my mother what happens when you die, and she said I would just be gone.”

The family is poor and didn’t have the money Cheng needed to get an operation.  Then they heard about Operation Blessing, and you helped Cheng get surgery.

“Now, I can walk with my mom and run with my classmates without any trouble,” exclaims Cheng.  “It’s like a dream.  My life is so much better.  I have hope for the future!”

Mrs. Xing reports, “Through Operation Blessing, Cheng not only got surgery, but we also learned about the Christian faith.”

Cheng adds, “Someone from Operation Blessing told me not to be afraid.  Jesus would protect me.  So, I prayed.”  He concludes, “Thank you for letting me know about Jesus.  He made my body better, and he saved my soul.  Now, I draw pictures of Jesus and share him with everyone.”
