A Race Against Time for Meichen

Meichen has always been her parents’ pride and joy.

“She was our little ray of sunshine,” her father shares.  “When our eyes met, she smiled, and my heart melted.”

Then at a routine check-up, doctors found a heart murmur, and Meichen was diagnosed with severe congenital heart disease.  Meichen had an operation right away, yet her heart trouble only got worse.

“We were told that her heart could fail at any moment.  One valve didn’t close right so she choked a lot.  Another valve leaked,” Mr. Liang remembers.  “She was skin and bones, and her eyes were dull and lifeless.  Every feeding was a fight for life.  It felt like Meichen was saying, ‘Daddy, save me.’  Meichen’s heart rate dropped so low that she had to get a pacemaker.”

Gradually, the pacemaker broke through her skin.
Her mother shares, “The wound from her first surgery never fully healed, and when some skin finally covered over a bit, it was too thin.  The pacemaker kept pushing against it and made a little hole.”

Soon, Meichen got a bad infection and needed to go to the city hospital for immediate attention.

“We were told that a second surgery was critical.  If we didn’t proceed, her heart would fail, and there’d be no chance to save her,” recalls Mrs. Liang.  “My whole world collapsed. I was dying inside.”

The Liangs had already sold their car and borrowed money to pay for their daughter’s first surgery and treatments.

“We literally had nothing left.  We were struggling even to feed our daughter,” confesses Mr. Liang.  “I was wandering around the payment window at the hospital, helpless.  I was at rock bottom.”

Then, the Liangs heard about Operation Blessing.  With your help, doctors repaired Meichen’s heart valve and replaced her pacemaker.

“Meichen is like a different person now.  She’s gained weight, and her body is getting better every day! Her arms and legs are strong, and she’s full of energy.  She loves to laugh and play and dance! Just looking at her like this makes me so happy,” exclaims Mr. Liang.  “Operation Blessing was our lifeline.  You didn’t just provide financial help, you also brought us emotional comfort and strength.”

“Operation Blessing treated us like family.  They prayed for Meichen and shared their faith in Jesus.  It must have been Jesus who moved the donors to help strangers like us.  Now, our daughter is healthy,” declares Mrs. Liang.  She concludes, “Without you, I don’t know what we would’ve done.  Your help means everything to us!”
