From Struggling Student to Classroom Star: A Superbook Miracle

Ten-year-old Chan Teang (pronounced Jarn dteeng) wanted to do better in school…but she just didn’t know.

“And it’s hard when I see someone in class doing better than me. I get so jealous and angry,” Chan Teang admitted.  “I had a hard time learning anything because there was no one at home to help me.”

Chanteang told us she went to live with her grandma after her parents left to work in another city.

“My grandma didn't have much time for me because she was busy taking care of the cows.”

Then she began to attend an after-school program supported by CBN’s Orphan's Promise.  She received help with schoolwork and watched episodes of CBN's Superbook.

“I was so excited when I got there!” Chan Teang told us.  “Everyone welcomed me and was so kind!  Then, the teacher played Superbook for us to watch. The story was so cool! I had never seen a cartoon like it before.

There she saw the episode called “He Is Risen.”
“Jesus died on the cross for my sins,” she realized.  “He did nothing wrong, but the army punished him by nailing him to the cross.  I wanted to cry. This story taught me that God wants to forgive us and to love others.  So, I decided to trust Him as my Savior.”
After she prayed to become a Christian, Chan Teang noticed something happening at school.

“My studies have improved so much! I can now read, write, and even do well in math. I am now in the top five of my class!” she said with delight.

Chan Teang then told her friends about Superbook and invited them to go to church with her.

“Three of my friends now know Jesus and believe in Him because of Superbook, just like me!” Chan Teang exclaimed.  “I'm so happy about that. Thanks for giving us, Superbook!”
