When Confusion Strikes, This Book Dares You to Be True!
FINDING HER WAY
Madison (Madi) Prewett Troutt grew up in a strong Christian home where she spent most of her time at church or playing basketball.
After graduating from high school, Madison attended Auburn University. While leading a college-age Bible study group, a few of the girls commented that Madison should go on ABC’s hit show The Bachelor. She dismissed it, not knowing much about the show, but the girls from her Bible study group applied on her behalf. One day, while Madison was working out at the gym, she received a phone call from the show. Shocked, she told the producer she made a mistake because she wouldn’t fit into a show like that. The producer insisted that Madison was the one they were looking for and Madison spoke with her mother about it; she changed her mind.
In 2020, she joined the cast and was thrust into the spotlight. At the end of the show, Madison became a finalist along with two other women. When it was time for Peter to choose his wife, the show offered the girls the opportunity to spend the night with him with no cameras or crew present. Due to Madison’s religious convictions, she declined. Eventually, she left the show and ended their relationship in March 2020.
In late 2021, Madison was set up on a blind date with Grant Troutt. They both had a mutual friend who thought they were a good match, and he was right. From the first time they met, Madison and Grant hit it off and began dating, going Instagram official in May 2022. Grant proposed in July 2022, and they married three months later, on October 29, 2022, at the Troutt family home in Dallas. In August 2024, they announced they were expecting their daughter, Hosanna Rose, who was born in January 2025.
PURSUING TRUTH
In her latest book, Dare to be True, Madison shares her struggles, which include her and Grant moving into their first home and feeling sick. After months of searching for an answer to their symptoms, a professional came into their home and told them they had been living with a gas leak. They were terrified at the thought of possibly dying. They were told if they lit a match, the entire house could have blown up. Since Madison often burned fragrant candles at home, they realized how much God protected them. Using this experience as a metaphor, Madison discusses how toxicity can also poison us if we don’t respond with grace, mercy, and forgiveness. She also shares her struggle with pornography and how she found freedom after bringing her secret sin to light.
She explains, “Hiding isn’t our answer. What we keep in the dark gains power. That’s where Satan gets a foothold—in secrecy. He leads us into temptation to sin, and then sin leads to shame. Then, shame creates separation, which makes us vulnerable to more sin. It’s a pattern. A cycle.”
She also examines how false beliefs about ourselves create cycles of pretending, performing, shame, and isolation. She offers a faith-based framework for identifying these lies, replacing them with God’s truth, and stepping boldly into one’s God-given purpose without apology. Key themes and features from the book include:
• Calling out destructive lies that keep you stuck and small
• Silencing cultural noise to tune into God’s truth
• Receiving grace to stop spiraling in sin, shame, and isolation
• Stepping into purpose with clarity and freedom every day
Each chapter ends with interactive challenges: “Truths for You” and “Dares to Do,” designed to help readers apply lessons, take practical steps, and experience lasting transformation.
