A Safe Place to Start Again

Rosario is a widow raising two teenagers. After her husband died, she has carried the weight of her family alone. Her biggest worry is literally the roof over their heads.  “When it rains, all of our belongings get wet. The bed gets soaked and the metal sheets on the roof lift and move,” she reported.

And it seemed that with every storm, the damage to the house got worse, according to her 14-year-old daughter Abigail. “I’m afraid the roof will collapse because the metal sheets are damaged. And the wooden support beams are rotten.” 

Still Rosario refused to give up. She and her daughter fought to save their home, patching cracks and holes with whatever scraps they could find.   

Rosario works long hours at a shop owned by another woman. Her earnings are small but she tries her best to make ends meet.  

“With the work I do, it’s still not enough,” she added, “And sometimes we can only eat twice a day.” 

Then, thanks to YOU, Operation Blessing built Rosario and her children a new home with sturdy walls and a roof that no longer leaks. We also gave them beds, furniture and household appliances.  “This was a huge surprise for me and my children and a great blessing from God!

Now we’re living better and our home has become a safe and beautiful place!” she said. 

And to help her earn more money, we gave Rosario what she needed to set up a shop right in her home.  Now she can earn more as the owner of her business.  “I thank God for this opportunity.  I know my children will have a better future now.!

“I am so happy for my mom and for our new house,” added Abigail. “And our family’s finances are improving too! Thank you so much!
