90 Years of Faith and Generosity
90-year-old David Bucci doesn’t think a lot about money; he finds a need and gives generously.
“I’ve always seen people that had less than I had. And I don't know what it was about me. I just, whenever I see somebody in trouble, I want to help them,” said David.
He’s lived that way since he became a Christian at 16 years old.
“And this power of love went through me. It was amazing. I don't know how to explain it. It just changed me instantly.”
As he grew closer to God, David’s desire to help others grew too.
In 1959, newly married to Marion, and going to college, money was tight. David said one thing kept them moving forward.
“Love,” said David. “It was exciting. We were in love with each other. Life was beautiful.”
The second semester of college his money ran out. David quickly learned the pitfall of debt at 18% interest.
“I said to myself, I’m not going to borrow money again. They're making money off of me. This is not good.”
He got two jobs and paid off the debt in eight months. Then, the couple learned about tithing.
David said, “I didn't tithe right away, but I kept looking in the Bible and it says that if you give 10%, he's going to bless you. So, I figured, well, let’s see what happens. So, I started giving 10% and I had just as much money, if not more than I had before.”
After college, David went to seminary and has pastored several churches over the years. He says The 700 Club has been a source of inspiration for his ministry.
“Well, I got interested in it because of the supernatural things happening first.”
That was the baptism of the Holy Spirit - something he never learned in seminary at Princeton.
In 1979, the Bucci’s began giving to CBN, they wanted to help more people around the world. Today David is a founder, a level he thought he’d never attain.
“I didn't know I was giving as much until income tax,” said David. “I had to add it up, and I thought, gee, I gave that much, you know?”
“What I like, the fact is they're doing things all around the world, And they're doing things that I want to see done. And then they had Operation Blessing, and sometimes i was able to give a, a lot more.”
In 2000, after 60 years of ministry, David retired from pastoring. His wife, Marion, passed away a few years later.
He’s still as generous as ever and as far as finances goes, he still believes the same thing as he did as a young man.
“I always had more than I needed,” said David. “So, it was just God's blessing in my life. And he has in my life here, have in anybody's life, if you trust him, he just gives.”
“Remember this—a farmer who plants only a few seeds will get a small crop. But the one who plants generously will get a generous crop.” Will you partner with CBN and help plant generously around the world?
