Never Going Hungry Again!
Novelyn’s children leave for school each morning with empty stomachs. There is no food for them to eat breakfast. According to 9-year-old Princess, that makes it hard to focus in class.
“I go to school every day,” she told us, “But I feel like there’s something rumbling in my stomach. It makes me feel dizzy.”
“They are weak when they go to school because they haven't eaten,” added mom Novelyn. “And they don’t get what they need because we don’t earn enough to buy healthy food. There are times when all we can afford is a little rice with salt.”
Novelyn lives in a remote community in the Philippines. She stays at home with the kids and does what she can to earn a few extra dollars to pay for basics. “I try my best to get money to buy food by selling souvenirs or root crops. But sometimes I think I will never sell enough to feed them. I pray a lot.”
Then Operation Blessing’s children’s program, Orphan’s Promise, started a feeding program at the children’s school. For nearly two years, Princess and eighty other children have received healthy meals every school day. And, thanks to YOU, Orphan’s Promise we gave Novelyn and a few other moms a food cart and snacks to sell in the market. The moms take turns selling to earn money to support their families.
“I am so grateful because my prayers were answered!” said the grateful Novelyn. “You helped us with meals for the kids. They are now stronger and smarter! And you helped us with the shared business, which helps me to buy food for my children.”
“Thank you so much for giving us meals at school,” added Princes. “I am so happy. Thank you!”
