Furnishing a Future in Israel
For Marina, a Christian from Belarus, the road to safety was paved with difficult choices and a desperate escape from a cruel, abusive marriage. Leaving behind the "constant battle" of her former life, she and her two children sought refuge first in a women’s shelter. While the shelter provided safety, Marina describes the experience as deeply depressing, a constant reminder of the trauma that brought her there. Despite the hardship, she leaned heavily on her faith, acknowledging that she "wouldn’t have made it without God" providing strength when she felt ready to give up.
The family eventually secured an apartment of their own in Bat Yam, but it was a shell of a home. Though Marina was profoundly thankful not to be on the street, the apartment was entirely unfurnished. With only two mattresses and no funds to buy essentials, the weight of their situation began to take a toll. "Furniture is a basic necessity," Marina explains, noting that while it may seem trivial to some, the lack of it heavily affected their quality of life and felt like a constant burden.
Despite the empty rooms, Marina and her children continued to pray, believing that they would not be abandoned. That prayer was answered when Marina reached out to CBN Israel after hearing about their work through her church. CBN partners stepped in at her moment of greatest need, delivering the furniture necessary to stabilize the family both physically and psychologically. To her children, the arrival of the new furniture felt like a holiday. Today, what was once an empty space has been reenergized with "new colors," transformed into a true home by the generosity of those serving God through their donations.
