Finding Faith in An Unlikely Place

Chanthla's parents had a dream of sending their children to school, but paying their small monthly fees and for uniforms was out of reach.  All 4 children, including Chanthla (12) dropped out of school to help their parents collect trash for recycling.  Then one day, they met a teacher from an after-school program supported by Operation Blessings Children’s program, Orphan’s Promise.

“The teacher invited all four of us kids to an amazing program called the School of Life. At first it was hard for me.  I wasn't good at reading, math or science.  Plus, I was shy and did not make friends easily,” recalled Chanthla.

Then, thanks to YOU, the free after-school program made it possible for Chanthla and his siblings to begin learning again.  Tutors help the kids with language and math, English and Bible using CBN’s Superbook.  Chanthla said that’s his favorite subject.  After watching the Superbook story of Ruth he decided to become a Christian!

“Jesus is now my Savior,” he said. “After that, I shared stories from Superbook with two of my friends and guess what? They became Christians too!”

Chanthla said he has become a new person.  He gets along with everyone and says he and his siblings are learning a lot from the Orphan’s Promise after-school program.  His parents and siblings have now prayed to become Christians too.

“Thank you for the School of Life and Superbook, for giving me the chance to learn about Jesus,” he added. “Now I go to church on Sunday with my family and friends. Thank you for everything!”
