She Walked and Waited Hours for Dirty Water

Every day, Salles makes the long journey to fetch water from a borehole.
“This borehole is always crowded with people. We wait for hours just to get our turn to fill our containers. Often one trip isn’t enough. By the time I return home I’m so tired that cooking or housework becomes impossible. Even then, the water is salty and causes us pain when we drink or cook with it. But I have no other choice but to use this. We do not have bathrooms and so people relieve themselves anywhere. There is no privacy even when you want to take a bath.”  – Salles

Operation Blessing learned about her situation and your generosity made it possible to drill a borehole right in her community.

“Now the water is cool, fresh, and close by, even the children can fetch water now. We can shower, and cooking is much easier. The toilets and bathrooms have brought privacy and dignity to our village. Before, people had no place to go — now we can use clean facilities and even wash our hands at the washing stations. Life is so much more comfortable now.

We have safe, clean water for drinking, bathing, and everyday use. Thank you for changing our lives. May God bless you and increase you. Thank you so much!” - Salles
