God Rebuilds What Was Lost

www.nadiamicaelaphotography.comKhine (pronounced “khai”) has been raising her 9-year-old son alone ever since her husband disappeared a year ago. Despite the financial challenges Khine also took in a friend, Thanda (than dar) who is a widow, and her 9-year-old daughter.

“I feel like an older sister to Thanda,” said Khine. “So when she asked me for help, I welcomed her and her daughter and took care of them.”

Khine and Thandar worked together in the fields to provide for their children. They were getting by until an earthquake struck their town in Myanmar. Khine’s home was destroyed.

“I was filled with sorrow because we no longer had a home,” said Khine. “I can’t afford to rebuild. It would take years to save up for that. I am very anxious about our future.

The day after the earthquake, Operation Blessing’s disaster relief team rushed to Khine’s community. Over the next 3 months, we provided Khine and other survivors with food packs, clean water, counseling, and medical assistance.  We also began rebuilding houses for 50 families, including Khine’s.  Now the two vulnerable women and their children are safe in their new home.

“I am deeply touched by the generosity of Operation Blessing donors who gave us this beautiful new house,” said Khine with a smile. “You even gave us new linens for the beds and curtains! It’s more than a shelter, it’s a home filled with love, hope and new beginnings! From the bottom of my heart, thank you for your kindness!
