Cursed and Rejected… Just for a Cup of Water
Every day, three times a day, 9-year-old Finci walks into the forest near her home in Indonesia to collect water. “Puddles” are their only source of water to drink. “It’s so exhausting!” said Finci. “The water was dirty, murky, and had a bad smell.”
Finci added that the water she carried home often made her sick. “The water made me get stomachaches and diarrhea,” she told CBN. ”I also got rashes on my skin. I often prayed, ‘Lord Jesus, please help us. We don’t have clean water at home. Please help us, Lord!,”
Finci lives with her sister-in-law, Marisinda, on Nias Island. She told us they used to ask for a few cups of clean water from a neighbor. Now that’s no longer an option.
“I will never forget the day when she yelled at us when we asked for some water!” said a tearful Marisinda. “They shouted and cursed at us! The people in the village also talked about that incident. It really hurt me. We had only asked for a little clean water to drink.
Then thanks to YOU, Operation Blessing came to the community and installed 500-gallon tanks that collect and chlorinate water. Now it’s safe to drink, and it can be used for cooking, washing and bathing. Altogether, Operation Blessing helped 33 families have clean water, thanks to your support!
“I’m happy because now we have clean water to drink near our home,” Finci said. “Thank you to all the people who have provided clean water for us. God bless you!”
“I’m deeply grateful to God and to everyone who has supported Operation Blessing for helping us with this clean water,” Marisinda added.
