Children Mocked Her and Called Her Names
In a small village in central India, Sonam was born with her right foot up-side-down and completely turned around.
Sonam explained, “It hurts when I walk or run. I couldn’t play like the other children. I just wanted to walk like them.”
Her Mother said, “The children laughed at her and called her names. In that moment, my daughter’s eyes filled with tears and my heart broke with hers.”
Sonam added, “I begged my mother, ‘Please make my foot straight. I don’t want them to tease me anymore.’”
Sonam’s father works as a daily wage laborer on a small piece of land. He couldn’t afford the club foot surgery Sonam desperately needed. Then, one day, they heard about Operation Blessing and reached out to us for help. Thanks to your gifts, we paid for her surgery.
Sonam excaimed, “I’m so happy my foot is straight now, and I can finally run and play like other children!”
Her mother said, “Thank you, Operation Blessing and all the people who helped us!
Now, Sonam can easily walk over a half a mile to reach her school every day.”
“I am doing well in my studies, and I also like helping my new friends do things at school,” said Sonam. “My goal is to become a doctor and bring hope to children who suffer like I once did. I will always pray for those who helped me and gave me a new life.”
