Victory Fellowship: Still Standing after the Storm
CBN.com After hurricane Katrina left so many people without homes, food, clothing, and jobs, Victory Fellowship of Metairie, Louisiana, stepped in to provide compassion and a whole lot more!
Pastor Frank Bailey says that Katrina miraculously left their property almost untouched.
“When we began to see the seriousness of the situation, we realized that the Lord spared this facility for a reason. So we came back and immediately began to open up and do whatever we could,” Pastor Bailey says.
Almost immediately supplies started coming in from Operation Blessing and other organizations.
Volunteers from all over the country came to show their support and lend a helping hand. As people lined up to collect food and water, volunteers prayed with them over their loss.
One couple remarked, “I feel good about it. At least someone is here to help us. The church is here, and they’ve helped us out real good. I do appreciate it. Thank God for that.”
“I’ve been overcome with the Spirit. Everyone here has been wanting to pray with me, and it just means so much,” says another woman.
During this time, Victory Fellowship helped 1,500 to 2,000 people a day. One pastor says they are looking to supply the basic needs of hurricane victims for up to a year if need be.
Pastor James Weidner says, “Our basically philosophy is people are going to be coming back spending all their money on repairs and bills. So we want to provide for their basic needs.”
For all that you did and are continuing to do for the victims of hurricane Katrina, The 700 Club salutes you, Victory Fellowship in Metairie, Louisiana.
