CBN.com A Heart of Worship

Tommy Walker's life mission has been to bring people to the Lord by seeing them love God through worship. Part of this objective is to bring dignity and blessing to the poor through worship. In 1997, while in the Philippines with his missionary brother, Tommy received a revelation that the poor are usually given the leftovers, and that the same was true in worship. He thought, "Wouldn't it be great to let the poor be the first to get the best stuff? There is something in the heart of God in that." Tommy believes that when he is with the poor, he is with Jesus.

A Collaborative Effort

Tommy is known for the songs "Mourning Into Dancing," "That's Why We Praise Him," and "He Knows My Name." His latest musical release, Make It Glorious, was produced in cooperation with CBN and Integrity Music. The collaboration represents worship songs the church can sing. Tommy is from a multi-racial church in Los Angeles, and the songs on Make It Glorious reflect that; therefore, different kinds of people can connect with and honor God with the songs on this album.

The album contains 12 songs, the majority of which were written by Tommy, ranging from the exuberant praise found in the title track to the abandoned worship felt in songs such as "

Dwelling Place
." The song "Jesus We Celebrate Your Fame" tries to convey that Jesus is the famous One, and millions of people all over the world join with the angels to worship Him. The album also includes "Heavenly Touch" and "I Am Not Ashamed," a declaratory anthem with a tribal feel inspired by Tommy's recent trip to Zambia.

Make It Glorious was recorded live at the Regent University Theatre in Virginia Beach, Va., with producer Chris Harris (Jaci Velasquez, Anointed). The title track, "Make It Glorious," is about wholehearted worship, giving our best praises to God.

These days, Tommy is living in Pasadena, Calif., with his wife, Robin, and their four children, serving as the worship pastor at Christian Assembly in Pasadena and as an integral part of Get Down Ministries, which is based out of the church.

With the income generated from the sales of the worship resources produced by Get Down, Tommy and his ministry team have been able to organize worship evangelism crusades and mercy ministries in various countries throughout the world.
