The Strong Little Boy Who Waited
CBN.com Four years ago, Rizal was born with a congenital condition commonly known as clubbed feet.
Surgery would normally occur soon after birth, but Rizal’s mom, Myriyani was raising the boy alone. Her husband had abandoned them.
“He came by once when Rizal was a few months old and the only thing he said was, 'How is Rizal going to wear shoes?' Then he left again," remembers Muryiyani.
Muriyani wondered if her son would ever walk or run normally. She knew her meager income could never pay for the surgery the boy needed.
"I cried a lot as I would tell Rizal to stay strong and be patient. I said maybe someday someone will be willing to help you," she says.
That “someday” came about six months ago, when a neighbor told Muriyani about an organization called Operation Blessing.
“I was unemployed at that time. It was very hard to put meals on the table," says Muriyani.
Operation Blessing provided Rizal with the two surgeries he needed to repair his feet.
And they also provided Rizal with the extensive physical therapy he needed to learn to walk properly for the first time. Finally Operation Blessing provided the boy with a pair of orthopedic sandals.
“At first I worried when the doctor told me that Rizal needed special shoes, but Operation Blessing did everything for my son,” she says.
Meanwhile, Muriyani has been able to find a new job which has helped improve their economic condtion.
"I am really thankful to Operation Blessing for bringing healing to my son. I’m really grateful that Rizal is walking normally like other kids. May God return your kindness! Thank you Operation Blessing," she says.
