Rick Warren: “I have Challenged Obama on Abortion”
During my one on one interview with Mega-Church pastor Rick Warren, I asked him if he’s discussed the abortion issue with Obama. After all, Obama is pro-choice and Warren is pro-life so what was that conversation like? He didn’t reveal details but watch above and read below.
Brody: I am curious if because this is a sensitive topic with Christians about abortion and Barack Obama and his Christian faith and a lot of people have concerns about how they really don’t come together.
Warren: Right.
Brody: Has that been a point of discussion between you two?
Warren: I have challenged him on that very issue because I am pro-life. A lot of Evangelicals have a problem with John McCain on stem cell. A lot of Evangelicals have a problem with Barack Obama on abortion. Well, they have the right to have a problem with both of those issues because as I read scripture they’re important issues. The protection of life is a fundamental issue.
If Obama would signal his support for a parental notification bill or some middle of the road abortion related legislation that would improve his standing among some Evangelicals.
