Richard Roberts: Healing in Africa
Richard Roberts is a man who is on fire for God. He has the anointing of Gods Spirit to preach and pray for the sick, with mighty miracles, healings, and deliverance following. The driving force behind this dynamic evangelist is the compassion of Jesus Christ for sick and hurting people.
Richard states, "Jesus was born to step into a world of trouble and bring healing and deliverance. That is the call of God upon my own lifeto step into the troubles and heartaches of people everywhere, to pray and believe God, and to bring a word of hope and resurrection."
THE FRUIT OF NIGERIA
At the time of the death of their first child, two-day-old Richard Oral, in January 1984, Richard was preparing to go on a crusade in Nigeria. After Richard Oral's burial, Richard's wife, Lindsay, told Richard to go ahead and she would follow. In hindsight, Lindsay says 20 years to the day she first landed in the Ivory Coast, the Lord showed her He had given her a multitude of spiritual children for the three physical children she had lost through miscarriages and illness.
On January 16, 2004 Richard conducted a crusade in Nigeria that was connected by satellite to Oral Roberts University. It was a testimony of how God multiplied their ministry. Not only did God bless them with spiritual children, but God also told Lindsay on that Nigerian trip in 1984 that she would be healed from her ovarian tumors.
Shortly after they came back from the trip, she became pregnant with their first daughter, Jordan. Richard and Lindsay were later blessed with two more daughters, Olivia and Chloe. The key principles that helped Richard and his family through these trials were standing on God's promises and prayer. Richard has had a long-term commitment to reaching Africa for Christ.
In 2002 Richard received an official invitation from President Laurent Gbagbo to conduct a crusade in the Ivory Coast. This crusade took place this February. Richard and the 35-member team were invited to the Presidential Palace and had lunch with President Gbagbo and the first lady before opening the crusade, where Richard ministered to approximately 30,000 people at night. During the day the teams held medical clinics, a pastors' conference, and a business leaders' conference. Joining Richard in the ministry outreach were doctors, nurses, dentists, nursing students, and faculty. The dean of the School of Nursing and the dean of the School of Business from Oral Roberts University were also there. At the close of the conference in the Ivory Coast, Richard departed for Nigeria and preached for Bishop David Oyedepo at Faith Tabernacle, one of the world's largest church buildings, seating 50,000 people. Finally, he traveled to Ghana for a pastors' meeting during the day and a crusade that same evening before returning to the States.
