Friday, President Obama was injured during a game of basketball with friends. The President was elbowed in the lip and received 12 stitches.

Rey Decerega, director of programs for the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute, identified himself as the elbower.

He said in a statement, "I learned today that the president is both a tough competitor and a good sport. I enjoyed playing basketball with him this morning. I'm sure he'll be back out on the court again soon."

Decerega elbowed Obama during the fifth of five gamed played the day after Thanksgiving. He turned to the resident, who was playing defense, to take a shot when his elbow hit the president in the mouth, according to a pool report.

Sure enough, the President was back on the court the next day. But, as a spectator, not a player.
