No Longer Afraid of the Dark

CBN.com —Yu Han and Makara are great friends.  In fact, they consider themselves to be like brothers.  They grew up together in a Christian orphanage on an island off Cambodia’s coastline.

“Yu Han is a good brother,” Makara told us.  “He loves God and he studies hard.” 
 
“We play football together, we eat together, and we even share the same room,” Yu Han says about Makara.

Like many kids though, both boys are afraid of the dark.  Their orphanage doesn’t have electricity, so at night, they’re scared to go outside.

“I’m scared of snakes!” says Maraka, the older of the two.  “One time a kid fell in the dark and hurt his leg.  I’m afraid that will happen to me too.”
 
So Yu Han, Makara and their friends prayed that their orphanage would get electricity.
 
“We prayed for power for lights to read at night, and for fans because it gets very hot in our rooms,” says Yu Han. 
 
CBN’s Orphan’s Promise installed a solar power system at the orphanage.  It runs the overhead fans and lights.  Now, Yu Han, Makara, and 90 other children in the orphanage can now do their homework or have Bible studies in the evenings.  They can also watch Superbook.
 
“Superbook helps us to love God more,” exclaims Makara.  “I am so happy that we have electricity!”
 
“I’m not afraid of the dark anymore.  Thank you CBN for giving us light!” adds Yu Han.
