A Mother's Worst Fears
CBN.com - Nida was worried about her 5-year-old son, Anthony. She’d noticed that he’d developed a bad cough and a fever, but then many of the children in the community had the same symptoms. Money had been tight, and Nida couldn’t afford to take her son to a doctor.
"Life has been very difficult since my husband left," Nida said. "Raising a family alone is such a heavy burden."
So Nida was very thankful when Operation Blessing came to their community in the Philippines with a free medical clinic. That’s where she learned that her son had contracted tuberculosis. Operation Blessing then began treating Anthony and more than 60 other children who were also diagnosed with tuberculosis.
In the months that followed, Anthony and his friends have been recovering nicely. And for Anthony’s mom who has struggled to put food on the table for her six children? Operation Blessing was able to help her to start a small business making and selling peanut butter.
"I thank God for Operation Blessing! They helped me and my family in a big way. They’ve changed our lives," Nida said.
