Melissa Charbonneau
| Melissa serves as CBN News White House Correspondent. CBN.com - White House Correspondent After spending four years on Capitol Hill as a congressional correspondent, Melissa Charbonneau recently moved up to Pennsylvania Avenue to become CBN News' new White House correspondent. Since she joined the CBN News team in 1994, Charbonneau has covered a wide variety of topics, including women in the military, crime prevention in New York City, immigration reform, and child abuse. Before moving to the nation's capital, Charbonneau spent much of her professional life in Virginia's Tidewater area, working first as the public relations director for the Better Business Bureau of Greater Hampton Roads in Norfolk. She then spent more than three years as both a general assignment and consumer reporter at WAVY-TV, an NBC affiliate in Portsmouth, Virginia. Charbonneau was also given a unique opportunity for overseas work as a National Forum Foundation volunteer for a Russian television network in St. Petersburg, Russia. A native of Mississippi, Charbonneau attended the University of Mississippi, earning a B.A. in Broadcast Journalism in 1986. In 1988, she earned an M.A. in Public Affairs Journalism from Regent University in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Outside the newsroom, Charbonneau enjoys race walking, fencing, horseback riding, and skiing; she also maintains a deep interest in Russian language and culture. |
